Mrs. Kellner stated they go to the dog park mostly for socialization when a puppy and for <br /> running. <br /> <br /> Vice Chairperson Ostrum wondered where they would propose to put one. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Kellner thought they could make one at Alpine Park in the undeveloped area. <br /> Commissioner Pontius wondered if there would be any odor in the wood chips after awhile. <br /> Mrs. K:ellner indicated she did not notice anything. <br /> <br /> Civil Engineer II Linton noted he did not notice any odor except around the trash receptacles. <br /> <br /> Commissioner LaMere wondered if the parks the Kellners visited have parking lots or did they <br /> have to walk. <br /> <br /> The Kellners indicated they had to walk a little ways. <br /> <br /> Civil Engineer II Linton stated the park he went to had on street parking. <br /> <br />The email fi.om Chairperson Jolms indicated she thought Town Center would-be a good spot for <br />a dog park. <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Ostrum did not think that would be a good place for one at this time. <br /> <br />The Commission agreed and thought Alpine would be an area to look at. <br /> <br />There was discussion regarding getting more citizen input on where and if a dog park should be <br />placed in the city. <br /> <br />Commissioner Pontius wondered if the dog parks would be open in the winter. <br /> <br />The Kellners indicated they have not been to one in the winter but they ~ew of someone who <br />has and they are open in the winter. <br /> <br />Commissioner Pontius suggested putting information on the website and posting information at <br />the local vets in the area. <br /> <br />COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Civil Engineer H Linton reviewed Elmcrest Park with the Commission and what needed to still <br />be done to finish the park. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler noted they moved many of the trees to the park fi.om City Hall. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Commission was to have the October meeting at the Fire Station. <br /> <br /> Park and Recreation Commission/September 8, 2005 <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
