In addition, an article will be <br />placed in lhe Ramsey Resident about the survey, encouraging area seniors to respond to the <br />sm'roy. Crest View representatives have met with the Ramsey Seniors twice over the summer to <br />intr(~ducc the Crest View Seniors Housing project to the group as well as to introduce the idea of <br />a Senior's Center and received feedback about the concept. She explained Crest View has <br />received $200,000 in CDBG funding from Anoka County, which may be eligible for this <br />component of their project. Staff continues to work with the Crest View representatives and <br />A noka County regarding the use of the existing funding as well as the availability of additional <br />l'uncling for this type of project. She requested feedback from the Council regarding the Crest <br />V Jew opportunity. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if CDBG funding can be requested for two years. <br /> <br />lIRA t~;xccutive Director Frolik replied a multi-phase project can be requested for three years. <br /> <br />Mayor (;amcc inquired about the timing on Crest View. <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson replied an application may be submitted after the first of the year for spring <br />c()llslrtlctiOll. <br /> <br />M s. [,'roll k advised a decision on additional CDB G funding would need to be made in December. <br /> <br />Councihncmber Elvig noted there was discussion regarding some of these types of amenities <br />being awtilable at the new Community Center. <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson explained staff saw some opportunities because of the proximity of Crest View to the <br />Community Center. Crest View would have more programming types of things while the <br />Community Center would have classes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated this is a good idea. He likes the idea of bringing the seniors by <br />'I'()wn Center with the ability to walk to a lot of places, and this will also open opportunities on <br />the train or bus route. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if the City is looking to participate with Crest View or if this Senior <br />Center would be part of a package. <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson replied that has not been determined at this time. Staff wanted to bring the Council <br />Ul) to speed regarding the discussions with Crest View.
