The consensus of thc Council was to direct staff to utilize BKV and Associates to provide the <br />City wilh information regarding requirements for occupancy at the Fire Building and to provide <br />thc City with options for reconfigurations to the Fire Building. <br /> <br />4) Redevelopment Opportunities <br /> <br />Moved up tbr discussion first in the agenda. <br /> <br />5) Metro Transit <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman indicated he spoke to Jim Barton of the Metropolitan Council <br />regarding the Metro Transit Taxing District. He has found that the city of Lakeville discussed <br />llm taxing district and decided not to join the district. There have not been any cities that have <br />been added to thc taxing district since the state legislation was drafted. Mr. Barton has indicated <br />il would be up to Ramsey on how to approach joining the district. <br /> <br />(iouncilmember Elvig stated the City should be very proactive regarding this issue. It is likely <br />that thc City would be able to decide how much service they would like, and reduced service <br />would be rctlected in the cost to the City. <br /> <br />(iouncilmember Strommen stated any additional buses would be an improvement; the buses are <br />I'ull with thc increase in gas prices. <br /> <br />Mayor (iamec inquired about the status of the City's grant applications. <br /> <br />('ily Administrator Norman replied the City of Ramsey has moved from the qualifying round <br />into thc awarding of points round for the grant associated with the Northstar Commuter Coach. <br /> <br />Mayor ( ~amec indicated there should be a Metro Transit bus in operation when the new City Hall <br />opens. I[e noted there will not likely be Northstar buses in service until 2007 or 2008. <br /> <br />(i()uncihnember Elvig directed staff to obtain information regarding service from the Anoka <br />~1 raveler in the Town Center area. <br /> <br />Mayor (iamec stated the Anoka Traveler should also travel in the area of the Anoka Business <br />l'ark. <br /> <br />~l'hc consensus of the Council was to direct staff to schedule a discussion of the Metro Transit <br />'l'axing I)istrict in 2006, and to provide the Council with information for the cost of the Anoka <br />'l'ravclcr in the near future. <br /> <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson informed the Council the architect reviewed the figures <br />again for the Lions Park Building. It was determined that the initial estimate was off and the <br />bids arc rctlective of the building cost.
