CASE # <br /> <br />RESCHEDULE NOVEMBER 8, 2005 CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> By: Jo Thieling, City Clerk <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The regular City Council meeting of November 8, 2005, will have to be rescheduled due to the <br />School District Election. Even though the City has nothing on the ballot, nor does the School' <br />Board election affect the entire City, State Statutes, Chapter 204C.03 prohibits public meetings <br />on the day that an election is held within the boundaries of the Special taxing district, school <br />district, county, city or town, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Therefore, the <br />Council meeting could not be called to order until 8:01 p.m. - or would have to be rescheduled <br />for a different day. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff feels that 8:01 p.m. may be somewhat late in the evening ~o begin a Council meeting and is, <br />therefore, recommending changing the meeting date versus just changing the time.
