Voting No: None. 3) Convert Auxiliary Power at Pump House//3 Assistant I~ublic Works Director Olson reviewed that Pump House #3 was constructed with a propane powered Auxiliary generator to provide power if regular electric service is interrupted. Propane was chosen as the fuel source because natural gas service was not available to the site. ~l'he Ramsey Town Center development has made natural gas service available to the site. The City has applied to Center Point Energy for gas service. Staff has contacted the supplier of the [!.enerator and requested pricing for converting the generator from propane to natural gas. The ~:stimated fee is $3,000. Standard policy will be followed in soliciting and approving the quotations prior to any work being performed. He advised staff and the Public Works Committee recommend submitting the request for gas service and also recommend proceeding with the conversion of the generator from propane to natural gas.. Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to ratify the ~'ecommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 3 and to authorize the request for gas service and conversion of the generator from propane to natural gas at Pump House #3. Voting No: None. 4) Adopt Pedestrian Curb Ramp Detail Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) made installation of a different surface treat-ment on pedestrian curb ramps mandatory. Truncated domes were adopted as the standard in the early 1990's then implementation was suspended fOr ten years due to the maintenance concerns with the domes. Snow removal equipment sheared off the domes, removing and replacing the panels was labor intensive and might need to be done every year. He explained during the suspension the .~;tandard practice for constructing pedestrian curb ramps was to install exposed aggregate on the ramp surfaces. The only exception to this practice was on Minnesota State Aid (MSA) projects where state and/or federal money was involved. Truncated domes were installed on all projects where federal money was included in the funding mechanisml The suspension expired in 2001 :tnd was not renewed.
