FC CASE

CONSIDER CONTRACT AGREEMENT FOR ENGINEERING
SERVICES FOR WATER UTILITY RELATED PROJECTS
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

The City has a number of water utility related projects scheduled and underway for year 2000. A
review of the projects include: a second water tower, a fifth well, a third pumphouse, watermains
connecting these new elements to the existing system, and modifications of the supervisory
control system to integrate these new elements. On March 21, 2000, the Council ratified a
recommendation from staff for the City to negotiate with Bolton & Menk to provide the
necessary services. Attached is a draft agreement from Bolton & Menk for these services.
Notably missing from the agreement is a not-to-exceed dollar amount for these services. The
workshop meeting referenced in the March 31, 2000 cover letter has been scheduled for Monday,
April 10, 2000. It is anticipated that an acceptable budget for the six work task elements will be
available at the time of Tuesday's Council meeting.

Recommendation:

Assuming an acceptable budget has been negotiated, the Finance Committee should recommend
City Council enter into agreement with Bolton & Menk, Inc.

Committee Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
City Attorney
Finance Officer
Director of Public Works
Parks/Utilities Supervisor

FC: 04/11/00
