not be accepted as weed control. <br /> f. Prune to remove rubbing, dead or diseased branches to maintain plant health. <br /> B. INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE <br /> 1. The Contractor will provide written notice of the anticipated conclusion of the planting <br /> period to the Owner's Representative at least five days prior. The work will be inspected <br /> by the Owner's Representative at the conclusion of the planting period. Condition of <br /> plant material will be noted and recorded for reference at the end of the guarantee period. <br /> 2. Prior to Owner acceptance remove all tags, ribbons, etc. from all plant material. <br /> 3. After inspection, the Owner's Representative will notify the Contractor in writing if there <br /> are any deficiencies of the requirements for Owner acceptance of the work. <br /> C. GUARANTEE AND REPLACEMENT <br /> 1. Contractor will replace all dead, defective or missing plants one time within the first year <br /> of the 2-year plant establishment period. When less than a full year remains in the plant <br /> establishment period, the Contractor will not be required to replace plants. <br /> 2. The Contractor will provide written notice of the end of the guarantee period to the <br /> Owner's Representative at least five days prior. The work will be inspected by the Owner's <br /> Representative at the end of the guarantee period. Any plant material required under this <br /> contract that is dead or not in satisfactory condition, as determined by the Owner's <br /> Representative, shall be removed from the site and shall be replaced as soon as conditions <br /> permit during the normal planting seasons. <br /> 3. If there is a dispute regarding the condition and satisfactory establishment of a rejected <br /> plant, the Contractor may elect to allow such plant to remain through another growing <br /> season at which time the rejected plant shall be replaced if found to be dead, unhealthy <br /> or badly impaired. <br /> 4. All replacements of plant material shall be of the same kind and size as specified in the <br /> plant list. Replacement cost shall be borne by the Contractor. <br /> 5. Replacement plantings required at the end of the guarantee period are not to be guaranteed. <br /> These materials are subject to inspection and rejection by the Owner's Representative <br /> before and after planting. <br /> 61 <br />
