My family moved out to our home back in February of 1989. We moved
from Coon Rapids to escape the traffic in the area to live in a peaceful cul-de-sac to raise our three
children. Things have changed a lot over the past 33 years with all of the home deliveries and increased
housing in our area. We have a 8 year old grandchild who visits weekly to play in our neighborhood with
all of the other small children in our neighborhood. There are times we may have as many as seven
young children playing in our cul-de-sac. We also have a 16 month old that we will be raising
permanently. I am strongly opposed to turning our quiet cul-de-sac into a small business. Not only will we
be subjected to the increased traffic and the security threat of unknown persons in our neighborhood, if
we ever decide to sell our property, we would be forced to disclose we live across from a small business
which would decrease our home value. It has been said there will be just a few customers daily but a
business plan always contains growth and the numbers will always increase unchecked. The city of
Ramsey has done a lot of planning to separate business from rural family living and allowing this to creep
into our neighborhoods is wrong. If allowing one household a Home Occupation Permit would open the
doors many others wanting to turn their homes into a business in our family neighborhood.
In regards to the CUP for the structure on the property, I have no objections as long as it is assured it will
not turn into a future business.
