To whom it may concern,
I am applying for a conditional use permit for my property at 15410 Nutria
St NW Ramsey, MN 55303. The permit request is to be able to build a 30x40
(1200sq.ft) accessory building in the rear of my property. The purpose of this
building size is so I will be able to store my 36ft camper, boat, and the rest of my
recreational vehicles. Being able to store everything inside would also help keep
the neighborhood and my yard looking presentable. This building would also
save me the cost of the storage facility that I am currently paying to store these
items. The reason I'm going the route of the conditional use permit is because my
property is .93 acres therefore, I am allowed 1800sq.ft of accessory buildings. My
current square footage used is 744sq.ft. The house garage that is 24x24 is where
I run into the problem. It is detached and takes away 576 sq ft of my allotted
1800 leaving me with 1056sq.ft of buildable structure. I have contacted the city of
Ramsey Building Department and talked with Bill Barber, the building division
inspector. The space between the house and the existing garage is about 8ft. We
talked about the possible option of building a breezeway or some other
alternative to connect the 24x24 detached garage with the house that would give
me the square footage I am looking for. Unfortunately due to the state codes the
option of connecting the two is not going to be possible because the existing
garage does not have the correct footings needed to support a structure of that
nature. If the conditional use permit is approved, it would give me the extra 144sq
ft of space that I'm looking for to be able to store my items. If you take a drive
around the neighborhood, you will see multiple accessory buildings the same
size and bigger with around the same size property. So, I hope that my request
is not asking too much. Thank you for taking my request into consideration. I
hope that I can continue to be a happy Ramsey citizen within the community.
Thank you,
Brady Doble
