Mayor Gamec commended the Public Works Department for their work during the severe storm <br />on Wcdnesday. He stated the City will be looking at any improvements that can be made in the <br />~'uttlre. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler stated there were gas lines severed, roads blocked, power lines <br />clown, and many lightening strikes as a result of the storm on Wednesday. He commended <br />Assistant Fire Chief Ron Lemm for his work in dispatching units to Ramsey and Bums <br />Township, and Mick Stenquist of the Public Works Department, Street Supervisor Grant Reimer, <br />and thc Public Works Crew for their work in clearing the roads. He stated the City's roads were <br />passable within about four hours, with the exception of a couple of live lines. He stated the <br />Public Works Department was given an offer by the Community Development Department the <br />~bllowing day to determine if any buildings in the City were structurally unsound. This is an <br />cxccllent example of the different departments in the City coming together for the good of the <br />residents when disaster strikes. He provided information regarding sites for residents to drop off <br />storm debris. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig announced the County Appraiser's office has indicated they will be <br />wi Hi ng to ascertain a value loss to properties to potentially discount tax ramifications until homes <br />are improved to their status prior to the storm. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />ivh)tion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to approve the agenda <br />as submitted. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, Elvig, Olson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberJeffrey. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated regarding Case No. 2, he recalls a separate liquor license for <br />Cobom's. Regarding Case No. 8, he asked if the City is managing lien releases as these <br />payments are made from companies working on Town Center. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied before a final payment is issued on any public <br />improvement project, removal of the lien is required. With partial payments the City retains five <br />percent of the work that has been completed. He indicated the resolution for Case No. 10 should <br />include the following correction to Item No. 1: That the City Council hereby authorizes partial <br />payment to ~ u r> ..... v. o^~ Adolfson & Peterson " <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to approve the following <br />il:ems on the Consent Agenda: <br /> <br />City Council / September 27, 2005 <br /> Page 3 of 25 <br /> <br />P3 <br /> <br /> <br />
