Canvassing Board <br />Meeting Date: 08/12/2022 <br />By: Katie Schmidt, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Declare the Results of the August 9, 2022 Ward 1 - Primary Election <br />4. 1. <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to accept and declare the results of the August 9, 2022 Ward 1 - Primary Election. <br />There were three candidates on the ballot: Milene (Mickey) Adams, Wayner Grimmer and Michael Olson. Milene <br />(Mickey) Adams and Michael Olson received the most votes and will appear on the General Election ballot on <br />November 8, 2022. Milene (MIckey) Adams received 180 votes, Wayne Grimmer received 154 votes, and Michael <br />Olson received 344 votes. The seat is for a full term that ends January 4, 2027. <br />As per State Statutes, the City Council must serve as a Canvassing Board to accept and declare the results of a local <br />election. The Primary Election for Ward 1 was held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the City's Ward 1, precincts 1 <br />and 2 Polling places. Polling places were open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Residents also had the <br />opportunity to vote absentee if they chose, either at Ramsey City Hall, at Anoka County Elections Department, or <br />by mail.
