AD INISTRATION
September 29, 2022
Contact: Erik Thorson, Communications Director, 763-324-4612, or e-mail:
Erik.Thorson(co.anoka.mn.us
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Flat 2023 Preliminary Property Tax Levy Approved
The Anoka County Board of Commissioners approved a flat preliminary property tax levy
during the board's regular meeting Sept. 27 this was the third consecutive year the levy amount
did not increase.
The strategic priorities of the 2023 proposed budget include transportation projects that
enhance and protect lives by providing safe roads and eliminating congestion; human services
initiatives to improve people's lives; a public safety focus that centers on protecting and serving
the community in a manner that preserves public trust; addressing workforce needs so the county
can attract and retain engaged, skilled staff to serve the public; and an emphasis on communication,
so residents and staff are provided with clear, accurate information about county initiatives.
The county's Truth in Taxation meeting is at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. Details about that meeting will
be posted on the county's website, anokacountymn.gov. The Board of Commissioners will approve
the final levy and budget during their 9:30 a.m. Dec. 2 meeting. The levy can be reduced prior to
final approval, but it cannot increase.
"I couldn't be prouder of the Anoka County staff and my colleagues on the board for the
months of shoulder -to -the -wheel work that resulted in a levy that didn't increase from the previous
year," said Scott Schulte, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners. "This took real work,
and we were honest and forthright throughout our negotiations. And an important takeaway from
this process is that we were able to fund our employee needs we'll be bringing wages that need
to be adjusted up to market rate over the next several years, and we were able to do this without
increasing the levy next year."
-more-
0011111010 0°1 0ri » V 0 1010110'1'1 101 v 0100II 0111010111110 '01010 111» 01 a 000110 II 0111110
01101000I'l iip l^:,lii ^,,'l 110111 00.0 0 4)40)1101 '„000011 11110110111110 4)00) vvh, vrvVvrl I'',...v vvrVVV" VvVVV Hvv vrr""V VvVVV Vvvr.^'-4r vvh,
I I l u „a i!
