Metropolitan Mosquito Control District Services <br /> <br />Summary of 2005 services provided in the area of: Ramsey <br /> <br />1. Reduction of mosquito populations through control of larvae in wet areas <br /> # site inspections: 1,810 <br /> # treatments made by helicopter: 358 (6,934 total acres) <br /> # treatments made by hand: 391 (193 total acres) <br /> <br />2. Reduction of adult mosquitoes, in areas requested, when sampling shows high populations <br />Packs, Events: <br /> <br /> Alpine Park <br /> Anoka County Fairgrounds <br /> A noka Tech. <br /> Armstrong Ranch <br /> Camp Guy Robinson <br /> Central Park <br /> Northfork Links <br /> Ramsey Elementary Park <br /> Riversbend Park <br />· Rum River Hills Golf <br /> Trott Brook Hoarse Trials <br /> Wayside Rest Park <br /> <br />3. Disease monitoring and control : <br />This area has not been at high risk. for LaCrosse Encephalitis in the past. <br /> # of tires picked up: 4 <br />Inspections (check for containers or sample for disease vectors): <br /> Ramsey Elementary and the Anoka trailer.park are checked weekly. <br /> # adulticide treatments in response to disease vectors: 4 <br /> <br />Other mosquito-borne disease work: <br /> Catch basin treatments: 987 <br /> <br />4. Biting _gnat control <br />The Ram and MiSsissippi Rivers are treated to prevent larvae from emerging as adults. The Trott <br />Brook is monitored and treated in the spring. Several biting gnat weekly monitoring sites are run <br />in the area. <br /> <br />5. Tick surveillance for Lwne disease and other diseases <br />Two trap lines for rodents carrying ticks are done in Ramsey. Both of these locations have been <br />positive fbr the black-legged tick. <br /> <br />6. Calls fi'om citizens <br /> <br />calls received: 25 <br /> <br /> <br />
