Councilmcmbcr Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #05-09-323 RES¢)I,IJTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 2005 AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH WI! EREAS, the community problem of domestic violence has become a critical public hcallh ~m~l welfare concern in Anoka County; and WltEREAS, domestic violence is a crime, the commission of which will not be tolcratcd in Anoka Cotmty and perpetrators of said crime are subject to prosecution and conviction in accordance with the law; and WIIEREAS, over thousands of women and children have and will continue to access ~_~ssi stance fi'om Alexandra House, Inc., a domestic violence service provider; and WllEREAS, domestic violence will be eliminated through community partnerships of concerned individuals and organizations working together to prevent abuse while at the same timc clTccting social and legal change; and WlI EREAS, October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month; and WHEREAS, during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Anoka County o~'gani×ations will inform area residents about domestic violence, its prevalence, consequences whal we, as a concerned community can do to eliminate its existence.
