Between Sept. 1, 2021, and Aug. 31, 2022, volunteer drivers racked up a total of 103,407 miles on 4,790 trips, driving passengers primarily to veterans' medical facilities, as well as other clinics and medical facilities. Anoka County Medlink drivers contributed 6,410 hours of service. That represents more than 267 days. Commissioner Scott Schulte, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners, commended all the drivers for their service. "The value of this service is immeasurable," Schulte said. "The transportation our drivers provide is very needed, and many of them make connections with clients during the trips the benefits of this program certainly go both ways." Several drivers were specially honored for their long years of volunteer service with the Medlink Transportation Program: 5 years of service Mark Mortrud; 10 years of service David Westphall; 15 years of service Edward Burns and Scott Berndt. The top five drivers who logged the most hours, miles and trips over the past year were also recognized: Paul Nelson, 16,769 miles, 905 hours and 590 trips; Bill Merry, 7,916 miles, 520.75 hours and 385 trips; Gene Hodel, 9,108 miles, 461 hours and 298 trips; Richard Vosika, 6,378 miles, 372 hours, 289 trips; and Don Manion, 5,342 miles, 269 trips and 317 hours. -30- p V:,'ll'II'll.110„ Ilill ll'llr )'11" %:' II a :,!r00 II' Ila:',uu, uV 1ll"°'.
