Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> be amended from time to time, or if there is evidence that the permittee cannot safely operate the motorized golf <br /> cart on designated roadways. <br /> <br /> ('89 Code, § 8.11) Penalty, see § t0.99 <br /> <br />§ 73.17 MOTORIZED SCOOTERS, <br /> <br /> (A) For the purpose of this section, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates <br /> or requires a different meaning. <br /> <br /> ' MOTORIZED SCOOTER. A self-propelled vehicle or power assisted vehicle drawn by a motor <br />having a piston displacement capacity of 25 cubic centimeters or tess or an electric motor that is incapable of <br />propelling the vehicle at a speed in excess of 20 miles per hour on a fiat surface. <br /> <br /> (B) Operating restrictions. It is unlawful for any person to operate a motorized scooter on a public <br />sidewalk or walkway provided or used for pedestrian travel; on any public street, highway or right-of-way, <br />unless licensed pursuant to state law; or on publicly owned land including school grounds, park property, <br />playgrounds, or recreation areas. <br /> <br /> (C) Exceptions. This section does not apply to licensed mopeds, motor/zed/electric-assisted bicycles or <br />electric personal assistive mobility devices as defined and regulated by state taw. Motorized scooters may be <br />operated on public property, streets or sidewalks if the operator has obtained a permit from Police Services. <br />The pen-nit shall be granted only upon tlxe applicant's demonstrated need to operate a motorized scooter for <br />medical reasons. <br /> <br /> (D) Penalty. A violation of this section shall be punished as a petty misdemeanor. <br /> <br />(Ord. passed l 1-9-04) <br /> <br />BICYCLES, SIC TEBOARDS, ROLLER SKATES AND THE LIKE <br /> <br />{} 73.30 BICYCLES. <br /> <br /> For the purpose of this section, the following definition shatl apply unless the context clearly indicates or <br />requires a different meaning. <br /> <br /> BICYCLE.
