CC Regular Session 5.9. <br />Meeting Date: 11/07/2022 <br />Submitted For: Joe Feriancek, Engineering/Public Works <br />By: Joe Feriancek, Engineering/Public Works <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #22-251 Accepting Geotechnical and Survey Proposals for Whispering Pines Estates Plat 3 <br />Street Reconstructions, Improvement Project #23-10 <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this case is to adopt Resolution #22-251 accepting geotechnical and survey proposals for <br />Whispering Pines Estates Plat 3 Street Reconstructions, Improvement Project #23-10. <br />Background: <br />The proposed 2023 through 2032 10-Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) proposes to reconstruct the streets <br />within the Whispering Pines Estates Plat 3 subdivision in 2023. This project is also proposed in the 2023 through <br />2027 Street Reconstruction and Overlay Plan as part of the proposed General Obligation Street Reconstruction <br />Bonds. <br />The proposed CIP has not yet been approved by City Council, but to solicit bids this winter, Staff needs to begin <br />designing the projects and preparing plans. Topographic surveys are essential to locate all existing site features <br />and to create an existing ground surface, used as the base for designing the project. <br />Quotes received are shown below. <br />Lc0ntfhct0' <br />olton & Menk, Inc. <br />akanson Anderson <br />TOTAL QUOTE <br />$ 5,850.00 <br />$ 8,200.00 <br />Bolton & Menk, Inc. submitted the lowest responsible quote. Based on the submitted quote, Staff recommends <br />accepting the proposal for a topographic survey from Bolton & Menk, Inc. <br />The Contractor is required to complete their work by December 2, 2022, which will allow Staff to complete <br />design work for these proposed improvements in time for late winter / early spring bidding. <br />Geotechnical Reports inform staff of subsoil conditions, which is essential when designing the pavement section <br />for the reconstructed streets. Also included are groundwater elevations and support capabilities of the soils for <br />utilities and trenches, as well as associated backfilling recommendations. <br />Request for proposals were sent to 3 firms, one was returned after the deadline and could not be accepted.
