TO: Jim Singewald, Patrol Officer <br />FROM: Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br />DATE: November 18, 2005 <br />RE: Memo Regarding Health Insurance Waiver <br />The City Council is in receipt of your letter dated October 12, 2005 regarding a <br />$290 cash waiver that is paid to some City employees who do not participate in <br />the City's health insurance plan. As you know, as of January 1, 2002 this benefit <br />was discontinued for new and existing employees who began waiving coverage <br />after January 2002. , <br />Although we understand your situation, we are not able to grant an exception to <br />the January 2002 ruling. The City and the unions recently began contract <br />discussions and it is our understanding that the cash waiver will be discussed. <br />We encourage you to speak with your union steward and/or the Human <br />Resources Manager regarding any benefits, including the insurance waiver, you <br />would like addressed during future meetings. <br />Please contact Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager, if you have any . <br />additional questions regarding City benefits. <br />0 <br />
