The Ramsey Dental Clinic will remain at the current location, reduce the size of the lot on which
the dental building is located, allocate the minimal amount of property necessary to complete
some of the residential lots, and plat the remainder of the commercial land as a separate lot for
future development.
GM Land Development is requesting an amendment to the 2001 Comprehensive Plan- to
reconfigure the Plan's existing land use designations for this property in a way that will permit
the development of single family lots while preserving Public/Quasi-Public sites for the future
needs of the community.
While the School District cannot commit that this property will be used for a school, the City
Council and the School Board have met on this issue. In previous work sessions, the City
Council has expressed a strong desire to preserve the land around the current City Hall campus
for a future school use.
The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on November 3, 2005. The main concern
was that a portion of the public/quasi-public future school site will be preserved for some public
recreational use in the event the property is -not developed with a public/quasi-public use in the
future.
Recommendation:
The Planning Commission recommended approval of the proposed comprehensive plan
amendment.
Council Action:
Motion by Councilmember and seconded by Councilmember to adopt
Resolution # 11-05- authorizing staff to submit the Comprehensive Plan Amendment to
Metropolitan Council.
-or-
Motion to deny the resolution authorizing staff to submit the Comprehensive Plan Amendment
to Metropolitan Council.
Reviewed by:
Community Development Director
City Attorney
CC: 11/22/05
Copies to:
City Administrator
•
•
—266—
