Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: • <br />RESOLUTION # <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING THE POLICY <br />FOR APPOINTING BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council would like its practices and written policies for <br />reappointing board and commission members to be consistent. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />That the City Council of the City of Ramsey confirms the recommendation of the <br />Personnel Committee to amend the Policy for Appointing Board and Commission <br />Members as follows; <br />Section 5. Reapplication process <br />a) Letter of intent <br />Members of City boards and commissions who wish to serve a consecutive. term <br />of office must notify the City Council of their intent at least two months before • <br />the expiration of the current term of office. To remind the incumbent of the <br />impending deadline, the Human Resources Manager or Assistant City <br />Administrator will notify commission members three months in advance of the <br />expiration of their terms and invite them to complete and submit an application <br />highlighting accomplishments, personal contributions to the commission, and <br />ideas for improving the effectiveness of the commission for .review by the <br />evaluation panel <br />The general public will also be invited to abnly for the vacancv in order to ensure <br />that the evaluation panel has a well-rounded group of applicants to choose from. <br />The evaluation panel will ,,ete en whether- t the ineafiiben� il� be <br />r-eappontemconsider the applications of the incumbent and the izeneral public. <br />Five finalists will be interviewed as per this policy. if it is determined that the <br />evaluation panel does not wish to reappoint the incumbent, another finalist may <br />be appointed at that time. that iiid .,:dug 's ^+ will be adve +: e . if it is <br />determined that the incumbent will be reappointed, the incumbent will be notified <br />of his/her new term dates. <br />• <br />G:1Administration''diumanResources%Commis5ions111.22.05 Consideration of Resolution Ameding the Policy for Appointing Board and Commission Members. doe <br />-322- <br />
