Paid On -call Firefighters respond to a variety of emergency and non -emergency events under the general supervision of an officer and are expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, water and ice rescue. Paid On -call Firefighters also are required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter and EMS provider in accordance with state law and standard operating procedures. All formal (required) training will be provided and paid for by the City. No previous experience is necessary. The starting wage is $12.88 per hour during the first year of probation/training.
