Upon inquiry, Member Steffen described the mission of the Rotary to which Member Kiefer
added that it is a lot like a Lions Club.

Member Gromberg added that the Rotary is more of a service group and suggested the EDA
could use it as a starting point but not use it as "the horse that will drive it".

Ms. Wald felt it was a good vehicle to assist in connecting with businesses.

Member Gromberg wasn't sure that the annual award would be a good thing for the Rotary to
take care of. Maybe we could piggy-back with them on some other things though.

Ms. Wald stated she is just trying to find venues to connect with the business people.

Member LeTourneau stated it is frustrating for everyone - you want to provide better service -
businesses want to be better informed - what will energize these people to come forward. He
added that he has a high motivation factor because a lot of his business is done in this
community, however, for some businesses - they are located here but all their products are
shipped out of the area.

Ms. Wald stated that her vision is to give information - give an opportunity to connect.

Member Kiefer suggested finding out what all the businesses in Ramsey do and put together a
brochure showing people how to keep business local - shop Ramsey first.

Ms. Wald inquired if the EDA was interested in staff bringing in presentations for meetings such
as Department of Employment and Economic Development, Central Minnesota Development
Company, Chambers of Commerce, Ramsey Rotary, Ramsey Lions Club, etc.

Member Gromberg felt that it would be better to set up presentations to the businesses - give
them something of value.

Member LeTourneau suggested the EDA write a letter - asking businesses how we can get
involved - how can we help - what are your needs.

Associate Planner Wald stated that the Ramsey Network meeting is usually in February. She
would like to get a Business Connection out in January and added that she would work with
Chris Riley. She stated that the Mayor is also a part of this Network meeting.

Member Gromberg suggested meeting in December if the Network meeting is in February as
there should be about a three-month lead time.

Ms. Wald mentioned the meeting could be held in March. She added that the Mayor has run the
meeting in the past; however, she feels there is a definite place for the EDA. She asked the
members to bring forward any other ideas, any other projects, etc.
