Councilmember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #05-10-358 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING FINDINGS, APPROVING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />AMENDMENT TO CHANGE A LAND USE DESIGNATION FROM PLACES TO WORK TO <br />PLACES TO SHOP, AND AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO <br />THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE COMPREHENSIVE <br />PLAN <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on August 31, 2005, the City of Ramsey received an application from Larry Smith <br />(the "Property Owner") requesting an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan to change the future land <br />use designation from Places to Work to Places to Shop for the following legally described property: <br /> <br />That part of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 27, Township 32, <br />Range 25, Anoka County, Minnesota described as follows, to-wit: Commencing at a point on <br />the west line of said Section which point is 209 feet north of the southwest comer of said <br />Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter as measured along said west line; thence <br />proceeding east and parallel to the south line of said Section for a distance of 209 feet; thence <br />proceeding north and parallel to the west line of said Section for a distance of 209 feet; thence <br />proceeding west and parallel to the first course to the west line of said Section; thence <br />proceeding south along the west line of said Section to the point of commencement. <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />That part of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 27, Township 32, <br />Range 25, Anoka County, Minnesota described as follows: Commencing at a point on the <br />west line of said Section which point is 209 feet north of the southwest comer of said <br />Northwest of Northwest Quarter as measured along said west line; thence proceeding east and <br />parallel to the south line of said Section for a distance of 209 feet; thence proceeding south and <br />parallel to the west line of said Section for a distance of 209 feet thence proceeding west and <br />parallel to first course to the west line of said Section; thence proceeding north along the west <br />line of said Section to the point of commencement. <br /> <br />(The Subject Property) <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan approved in 2001 shows the Subject Property <br />designated land use as Places to Work; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the property owners are requesting that the Subject Property designated land use be <br />changed to Places to Shop; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the development occurring in the vicinity of the Subject Property consists of low and <br />medium density residential, and Ramsey Town Center; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, development of the Subject Property with commercial versus industrial uses would <br />compliment thc residential and town center uses currently being developed in the vicinity; and <br /> <br /> <br />
