Councilmcmbcr introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #05-12-xx- RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING $5,000 CONTRIBUTION TO THE CITY OF RAMSEY FOUNDATION IN SUPPORT OF THE SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP WITH LOUDI, CHINA WHEREAS, a small group of community leaders has been meeting on a regular basis to develop economic and educational connections with Sister City Loudi, China; and WHEREAS, this smal! group recommended creating a foundation that could receive contributions from local businesses and community groups that will benefit the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, The City of Ramsey Foundation was formed to support the Sister City Partnership and possibly other City of Ramsey events or interests as determined by the Foundation Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, the foundation has currently submitted official registration papers to become a public foundation with the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, The City of Ramsey Foundation has adopted a start up budget for the foundation and is seeking a one-time contribution from the City of Ramsey to help the foundation pay for the initial start up fees. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF R_gnMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes $5,000 to The City of Ramsey Foundation from the 2005 bk~dget for contracted services within the Community Services budget. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember ., and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: WhereUpon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 13th day of December 2005. -503-
