Desior~ation of roadways for use. That all roadways within the city except those <br />portions located within the central business district, are authorized for the operation of <br />motorized/electric carts (hereinafter "vehicles") within the meaning of' MinneSota Statute Section <br />lo9.0,.5. POwer wheel chairs and power scooters that are comm'on'Jy useCJ for the mobility of persons <br />with disabilities are not included within this definition. <br /> Subd.2. Perm/ts. Only persons in possession of a duly authorized permit are allowed to operate <br />these vehicles and only on the streets specifically designated in [heir permit and in accordance with-ail <br />other provisions of this ordinance. Permits authorizing the use of these vehicles shall be issued at the <br />discretion of the City of S[iflwater Police Chief or his designee, taking into consideration the safety and <br />welfare of the citizens of the qity. Permits shall be vaiid for one year _and be annuatly renewable. <br /> <br /> (1) Requirements for issuance of permit: <br /> <br /> a. Applicant must be at least i 8 years of age. <br /> <br /> b. Evidence of liability insurance complying with the provisions of M.S. section <br /> 85B.4,-3, Subd. 5. <br /> <br /> c. Valid Minnesota driving privileges or certification by a licensed physician <br /> that applicant is able to safely operate the vehicte on designated roadways. <br /> <br /> d.
