Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to dk. ect staff to work <br />closely with the neighborhood to conduct a smwey regarding the Public Works Committee <br />offer/ng the neighborhood a 50/50 split on paving the road for a more permanent fix, with the <br />neighborhood to forward apetition to the City if they would like to proceed. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: City Engineer J'ankowsld questioned if the Committee would like to send <br />out a survey asking the neighborhood if they would be interested in the project at a 100 percerft <br />cost and if they would be interested in the p.roject at a 50 percent cost. Councilmember Cook <br />suggested staff hold a neighborhood meeting to discuss the options. He commented if the <br />property owners are given all the information they will know they are getting some benefit from <br />the City. Assistant Public Works Director Cleon asked if the Committee would like to wait fOr <br />Council ratification pr/or to discussing th/s with the neighborhood. Public Works Director <br />Kapler indicated staff would prefer to have direction from the Council prior to discussing this <br />with the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Counciknember Elvig withdrew the mot/on on the floor. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elv~g, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to recorrm2end the City. <br />Council ratify a 50 50/50 split of the cost of paving the current dirt surface of the road segments <br />of 167 Lane, Uranimite Street, 164th Lane, Sapphire Street, and 164th Avenue, with staff to <br />prepare a survey and host a neighborhood meeting after Council ratification. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson ZLmmerman, Councilmernbers Elvig and Cook. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case//2: Public Works Campus Layout and Tour <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler noted the Committee was given a tour of the Public Works <br />Campus at the beginning of the meeting. He asked if the'Committee has any questions.. <br /> <br />Chairperson Zimmerman indicated he would suggest the City try to obtain the property ail the <br />way out to Lirn'6~¢ei!s'~e:~, as it. will be needed quickly. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to recommend that the <br />City Council approve the City taking control of the current property at the Public Works Campus <br />out to. Voting Yes: Chairperson Zimrnerman, Councitmembers Cook and Elvig. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Assistant Public Works Director Olson noted staff is cramped in the current <br />Public Works building with the current staff, and over the next ten years the projection is for an <br />additional Public Works employee every year due to the =o-rowth of the City..
