-22- <br /> <br />Chase Johnson will be heading up this event and the first committee meeting is scheduled for <br />Wednesday evening. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated he was not in favor of it being that clos~ to the Happy Days celebration but <br />he has realized now that it's a completely different celebration - and it shouldn't hurt the <br />attendance of Happy Days. <br /> <br />Ms. Haas Steffen stated some of the events will be crafts, a carnival, beer garden, silent auction, <br />live auctions, etc. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated he applauds Lord of Life Church for this. The timing might be a <br />little off because of Happy Days, but he agrees that it is a completely different event. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated that everyone has something going on that time of year and it <br />doesn't seem to have a negative effect. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Pearson and Olson felt it was a great idea. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated with the carnival rides, etc., parking will be an issue. With the beer <br />garden, there has to be police presence and that has to be paid for by the Church. He expressed <br />concern about the Police Reserves 'and the fact that they are worked so hard Happy Days <br />weekend, this will make the coverage a little "thin". He suggested he should attend one of the <br />Lord of Life Fall Festival Committee meetings later on. <br /> <br />Ms. Haas Steffen stated she will be asking the Sheriffs office for some free help. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson heads up the City's Happy <br />Days celebration and planning and inquired if she has any concerns or comments. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that there is not a duplication of everything. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked about any licensing requirements to which Ms. Haas Steffen stated she has <br />been in contact with the City Clerk regarding licensing already. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented that it appears Council is in positive agreement with this festival. <br />Ms. Haas Steffen offered that she will keep the City Council updated. <br /> <br /> 2) Not-for-Profit Contribution Policy <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that staff and Council had talked about a contribution to the <br />Alexandra House last week. Council asked that staff draft a policy relating to not-for-profit <br />contributions and bring it to the Council for adoption. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that staff put together a brief policy to set up criteria <br />for the City Council to make a decision about contributing and to be able to defend their <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/November 7, 2005 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
