Oec OS 05 lt:50a PauI~Pierce 763~2 ~.~ <br /> <br />It'S Anoka County's <br />Sesquicentennial <br /> <br />Let's celebrate! <br /> <br /> · Sesqui--what?? · <br />Anoka County will celebrate its 150th birthday, known as the Sesquicentennial, in 2007. <br />The Anoka County Historical Society, Anoka County, and community leaders from across <br />the county are planning an integrated program of community events to commemorate and <br />celebrate 150 years of the place that we call "home." <br /> <br /> · A Year To Remember - <br />The year 2007 will be one to remember with a year filled with community events across <br />Anoka County. The Sesquicentennial Executive Board (SEB) and the Anoka CounT 150 <br />Committee (AC150) are organizing tours, lectures, exhibits, contests, drawings, and <br />events that will bt/rig the count's histoD' alive for people of all ages. Event participants can <br />also take home a piece ofhistory with souvenirs like a "Then and Now" photo book, CD, or <br />reproduced historic postcards. <br /> <br /> · Goals for the Celebration · <br />The Sesquicentenoial ~ll be an integrated series of activities with the intent of: <br />· Fostering a sense of community and county identity in the citizens of all Anoka County <br /> communities; <br />· Educating Anoka County's citizens about their communities' history and instill[ng re- <br /> spect for our shared heritage; <br />· Inspiring our citizens to se~'k greate[ knowledge of and understanding about our <br /> County's past and engaging them in collecting histow for the future; <br />· Creating festivity around the celebration of 150 years of Anoka County's b. istory. <br /> <br /> · Get Involved · <br />Want to be a part of this countywide event? Partnering with municipalities, nonprofit or- <br />ganizations, local businesses, and community groups will ensure this celebration's success <br />and its countywide focus. Increase recognition of your program or product by sponsoring a <br />Sesquicentennial event. Become a volunteer and be a part of history in the making!
