Councilmember Cook introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #05-05-119 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 24, 2005 AS MEDIATION SERVICES FOR <br />ANOKA COUNTY DAY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County was formed in 1987 to provide <br />voluntary mediation services to residents of Anoka County, to promote and educate the Anoka <br />County community in ways that encourage peace and harmony, and to supplement the legal <br />system by providing an alternative process all community members can easily access; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County's volunteers contributed 3,492 <br />hours service to the community totaling $204,625 bringing peace and resolution to Ramsey's <br />individuals, families, neighborhoods, schools, workplaces and businesses; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mediation Services for Anoka County has provided a resoume for law <br />enfomement, Ramsey city staff and public officials, and school district; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, volunteers Susan Anderson, Debbie & Dennis Christenson, Robert <br />(M.A.) & Donna Johnson, Kay McAIoney, Kate McPherson, Jan Pomeroy, and Natalie <br />Stcffcn, have assisted the citizens of Ramsey to actively manage conflict and reduce violence <br />through education and conflict resolution services. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL FO THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City of Ramsey hereby proclaims Tuesday, May 24, 2005, as MEDIATION <br />SERVICES FOR ANOKA COUNTY DAY IN Ramsey, Minnesota, and urges all <br />citizens to recognize the importance of community service. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Olson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereofi <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Cook <br />Councilmember Olson <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councilmember Strommen <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
