CC Regular Session 5.6. <br />Meeting Date: 02/14/2023 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title <br />Authorization to Hire a Police Officer Filling a Current Vacancy in the Patrol Division <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request the City Council's authorization to hire a Police Officer, backfilling a <br />current Police Officer vacancy that was created when a veteran Police Officer retired. <br />An internal and external recruitment was conducted. Mr. Andrew DeVine met the requirements of the position <br />and was invited to take part in the City's interview process, the physical agility fitness testing, and the "shoot/don't <br />shoot" video scenario activity. Staff selected Mr. DeVine as a finalist to be advanced through background <br />testing. At this time, Chief Katers recommends Mr. DeVine for the position of Police Officer with the City of <br />Ramsey. <br />With the City Council's authorization, Mr. DeVine will start as the City's new Police Officer on or near March 6, <br />2023.
