Councilmember Hendriksen stated that once T.H. #47 is completed more people should use T.H.
#47 rather than Waco Street.

Ms. Board replied that if people have to wait at two stoplights along T.H. #47 they would
probably chose to go down Waco Street.

Councilmember Zimmerman stated that this is an issue that will take several months of
discussion before it is resolved. He requested that the speed study take place after the stoplights
are working along T.H. #47.

Case #2: Presentation and Consideration of Water Tower Lettering and Color Scheme

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the steel erection of Water Tower #2 has been underway
since September and should be completed over the winter months. Construction will resume in
the spring, and painting which is temperature and humidity dependent may start in early April
2001. Although there is some time for making final decisions on color and letter style, it is
advisable to begin such a consideration sooner than later. He presented the Committee with a
sketch of the type of letter that is currently envisioned to be placed on the tank.

Councilmember Zimmerman stated that the Council had indicated that the would prefer the
wording "City of Ramsey" on the water tower rather than just "Ramsey".

City Engineer Jankowski replied that the word "City" would have to be done in large letters to
make it noticeable.

Councihnember Hendriksen stated that he would like to see the wording as follows: "The CITY
of Ramsey".

Councilmember Zimmerman agreed. He inquired as to how many sides the wording would be
on.

City Engineer Jankowski replied three sides.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the wording should be visible from both directions along
Highway # 10.

City Engineer Jankowski explained that there are 260 colors to select from.

Consensus of the Committee was to let staff select colors and then present them to the entire
Council for approval.

Director of Public Works Kapler inquired if the existing water tower should have the same color
scheme as the new water tower.

Public Works Committee/November 21, 2000
