additional amenities that co-location with Crest View would provide the Senior Center with a <br />link to: <br /> · Congregate dining at a nominal cost to the participant <br /> · Recreational outings and events <br /> · Cultural programs <br /> · Opportunity for socialization with other seniors <br /> · Health and wellness programs <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated in an effort to better understand the needs of <br />seniors in the Ramsey community, a survey has been developed and will be sent to seniors that <br />currently participate in the Ramsey Seniors monthly meetings. In addition, an article will be <br />placed in the Ramsey Resident about the survey, encouraging area seniors to respond to the <br />survey. Crest View representatives have met with the Ramsey Seniors twice over the summer to <br />introduce the Crest View Seniors Housing project to the group as well as to introduce the idea of <br />a Senior's Center and received feedback about the concept. She explained Crest View has <br />received $200,000 in CDBG funding from Anoka County, which may be eligible for this <br />component of their project. Staff continues to work with the Crest View representatives and <br />Anoka County regarding the use of the existing funding as well as the availability of additional <br />funding for this type of project. She requested feedback from the Council regarding the Crest <br />View opportunity. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked ifCDBG funding can be requested for two years. <br /> <br />HRA Executive Director Frolik replied a multi-phase project can be requested for three years. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired about the timing on Crest View. <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson replied an application may be submitted after the first of the year for spring <br />construction. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik advised a decision on additional CDBG funding would need to be made in December. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig noted them was discussion regarding some of these types of amenities <br />being available at the new Community Center. <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson explained staff saw some opportunities because of the proximity of Crest View to the <br />Community Center. Crest View would have more programming types of things while the <br />Community Center would have classes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated this is a good idea. He likes the idea of bringing the seniors by <br />Town Center with the ability to walk to a lot of places, and this will also open opportunities on <br />the train or bus route. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if the City is looking to participate with Crest View or if this Senior <br />Center would be part ora package. <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson replied that has not been determined at this time. Staff wanted to bring the Council <br />up to speed regarding the discussions with Crest View.
