Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Required Action with Regard to Proposed Charter Amendment Increasing <br />the Number of Council Members from four to Six. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated that, at the September 6, 2000 Ramsey Charter Commission <br />meeting, they proposed that the City Charter be amended to provide that the number of <br />Councilmembers be increased from four to six members. Because the procedure from this point <br />on is mandated by the relevant State Statutes, the City Council has little discretionary authority. <br />The procedure is as follows: The proposed amendment has been delivered to the City <br />Administrator and, therefore, from that point on: <br /> <br />1) The Council shall cause the proposed amendment to be submitted at the next general <br /> election, which is November 7, 2000 <br />2) The Council must give notice of the ballot question by two week's published notice. <br />3) The Council shall fix the form of the ballot. <br /> <br />City Council/September 13, 2000 <br /> Page 4 of 19 <br /> <br /> <br />
