MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council ~ <br />Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br /> <br />February 14, 2006 <br /> <br />Notice of Raffle at Diamond's Sports Bar & Grill <br /> <br />Normally, Council is required to make a motion authorizing the exemption from a lawful <br />gambling license when an organization chooses to hold a raffle, bingo, etc. <br /> <br />In August 2005, the ruling changed that an exemption was not necessary if the organization gave <br />away less than $1,500 in prizes in a calendar year. They now call this procedure "exclusion" <br />instead of exemption. <br /> <br />Per the attached memo from the Ramsey Event Promotions, Inc. they are intending to hold a <br />raffle at its annual 4t~ of July event with total prizes offered less than $1,500. <br /> <br />No action is necessary by Council.
