CONSIDER CONTRIBUTION TO THE CITY OF RAMSEY FOUNDATION <br /> By: Jason J Schmidt, Management Intern <br /> <br />Background: <br /> Over the past year, the City of Ramsey has been working towards establishing a <br />sister city relationship with the community of Loudi, China. A small group of <br />community leaders has been meeting on a regular basis to develop economic and <br />educational connections with Loudi to assist in developing the relationship between the <br />two cities. This group has recommended creating a foundation that could receive <br />contributions from local businesses and community groups in support of their work. <br />During the December 13 City Council meeting, a one-time contribution of $5,000 to The <br />City of Ramsey Foundation was discussed. The $5,000 contribution would be to help the <br />foundation pay for the initial start up fees. The action was tabled until the foundation <br />completes a strategic planning o£ Goals and Objectives for the Sister City Relationship. <br /> ' 1 <br /> Attached are the Mission Statement and Goa s and Objectives for the Sister City <br /> Relationship from The City of Ramsey Foundation. <br /> If Council should approve the contribution, staff would recommend the funding be taken <br /> from the 2006 budget for contracted services within the Community Services budget. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> Consider contribution in the mount of $5,000 to The City of Ramsey Foundation <br />from the 2006 budget for contracted services within the Community Services budget. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> Consider Resolution No. 06-02-xx Authorizing $5,000 Contribution to The City <br />of Ramsey Foundation in support of the Sister City Relationship with Loudi, China. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />CC 02/14/06 <br /> <br />-285- <br /> <br /> <br />
