CASE <br /> <br />RECEIVE MN/DOT SPEED STUDY FOR RIVERDALE DRIVE <br /> By: Steven Jankowski, City. Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the April 2005 Public Works Committee meeting a request was considered to request <br />that the speed limit~ on Riverdale Drive be reconsidered with the intent of increasing the <br />posted limit from its present 30 mile per hour posting. The City Council requested that <br />the Commissioner of Transportation conduct an en~neering study to determine a safe <br />and appropriate limit for the Segment of R/verdale Drive between Ramsey Blvd and <br />Tungsten Street. Attached to tl:fis case is a letter advising the City of the determination of <br />the safe and reasonable speed along this segrnent of P,-iverdale Drive as a result of the <br />speed study conducted by M.n/DOT. The findings recommend a continued 30 mile per <br />hour limit along the segments of P,.iverdale Drive between Ramsey Boulevard and <br />Feldspar and a 35 m/lo per hour limit for the segment between Feldspar and Tungsten <br />Street. Based upon tl-tis study the City may legally post the new limits. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staffwould note the recommended speed limits conform to both the petitioners request <br />for ~m increased limit over the straight portion of P../verdale Drive, and the police <br />departrfients concern.that the limits not exceed 35 miles per hour. Staffrecommends that <br />the speed limits be posted along R. iverdale Drive as recommended in the M_n.
