govermnent units must develop a policy that controls travel outside the State of Minnesota, for <br />applicable elected officials of that government unit. Staff had indicated that the League of <br />Minnesota Cities was in the process of developing a model policy for cities to consider and that <br />policy is now complete. <br /> <br />The Council reviewed the travel guidelines model policy. <br /> <br />Mayor Garnet suggested Item No. 7 Lodging Costs be amended to allow for actual expenses, <br />rather than a set dollar amount. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman noted there is alternate language included for this paragraph that <br />states lodging and meal costs are limited to those which are reasonable and necessary. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Council was to direct staff to proceed with the Travel Guidelines Policy <br />with the alternate language included for Item No. 7. <br /> <br />MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />The Work Session of the City Council was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />James E.
