Case #8: Report from the Personnel Committee <br /> <br />1) Consider Continuing Public Works Lead Person Role <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to recommend <br />that the City Council authorize the continuance of the temporary position of Public Works Lead <br />Person through December 31, 2000, at the previously stated wage increase of $1.96 per hour. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Core, oily, Anderson, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Consider Amending Personnel Policy Regarding Hiring Procedures <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to recommend <br />that City Council authorize amending the Personnel Policy of the City Code to include a new <br />section 3.20.035 titled Recruitment and Selection with the language as proposed by staff. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Connolly, Hendriksen, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />3) Consider Amending Policy on Education and Tuition Reimbursement <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Heryla stated that the Personnel Committee directed staff to evaluate <br />other city's policies, including the requirement that the employee must pass the course in order to <br />be reimbursed, and look into the option of purchasing self-paced materials. <br /> <br />4) Authorize Hiring of Patrol Officer <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Connolly, to authorize <br />hiring one of the five finalists for the patrol officer position based on the panel's <br />recommendation. The job offer would be at the starting patrol officer salary for 2000 ($33,688) <br />and be contingent upon successful completion of background checks, psychological examination, <br />and an employment physical. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
