CASE # 1 <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION OF ACQUISITION OF PROPERTIES IN DEVELOPMENT <br />DISTRICT NO. 1 FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PURPOSES <br /> By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> Patrick Trudgeon, AICP, Community Development Director <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />During the work session held on January 18, 2006, staff presented a redevelopment study for the <br />area west of Armstrong Boulevard. The area of the study, referred to as Ramsey Crossings, is <br />adjacent to the Ramsey Town Center project, and has been discussed as a development or <br />redevelopment project for a number of years. It is the belief of staff that this area should be <br />developed in a way that provides for commercial and retail and offices opportunities that would <br />both benefit from as well as to the Ramsey Town Center. On the 8th of February, 2006, the <br />Ramsey Economic Development Authority identified Ramsey Crossings as well as additional <br />parcels in need of redevelopment and recommended to City Council that negotiations commence <br />and to utilize eminent domain where appropriate. All of the additional parcels identified for <br />redevelopment fall under planned acquisitions under the 2006 City Capital Improvement <br />Program and are located in Development District No. I which is a defined area for development <br />and redevelopment. <br /> <br />The attorneys retained by the City have developed a resolution that will initiate the process to <br />secure properties for redevelopment purposes. A resolution is before the Council for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #06-02-XXX authorizing eminent domain for the acquisition of <br />parcel #27-32-25-33-0011 identified in said resolution for economic development purposes. <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #06-02-XXX authorizing eminent domain for the acquisition of <br />parcel #27-32-25-44-0003 identified in said resolution for economic development purposes. <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #06-02-XXX authorizing eminent domain for the acquisition of <br />parcel #27-32-25-43-0014 identified in said resolution for economic development purposes. <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #06-02-XXX authorizing eminent domain for the acquisition of <br />parcel #27-32-25-44-0006 identified in said resolution for economic development purposes <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Community Development Directo~ <br /> <br />Copies also distributed to: <br />City Attorney <br /> <br />CC: 0~q-4706- <br /> <br /> <br />
