Case #4 APPOINTMENT OF DELEGATES TO RAMSEY/ANOKA COMMI'YI'EE By: Mark S. Banwart, Community Development Director Background: Trunk Highway #I0 Corridor Study, dated Jaunary 1988, concluded that for good traffic flow and possible expansion of industrial portions of the City of Ramsey, there should be an extension of McKinley Street connecting to the Thurston Avenue bridge. This extension will require the cooperation between the Cities of Ramsey and Anoka in that the Thurston Avenue bridge is located in the City of Anoka. Furthermore, utilities (water and sewer) improvements in Ramsey Industrial Park 1st Addition were in part made on the assumption that: McKinley Street would be extended. The street extension would be considered as a Municipal State Aid Road (MSA). On September 13, 1988, the Ramsey Economic Development Commission approved a motion to hold a joint Economic Development Commission/Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to discuss among other things, the possible extension of McKinley Street. On September 29, 1988, the joint Economic Development Commission/Planning and Zoning Commission approved a motion to request the City Council to send a delegation to the City of Anoka to arrange the extension. On November 16, 1988, at the Ramsey City Council meeting, Mayor Reimann and Councilman Pearson volunteered to be a part of the proposed delegation. Recommendations: Commission Action: Motion to appoint 2 Commission members to represent the Commission and be a part of a delegation representing the City of Ramsey in issues which require potential agreements between the Cities of Anoka and Ramsey. This delegation will be made up of representatives from City Council, the Planning and Zoning Commisison and the Economic Development Commission.
