Council discussions regarding contracting with Anoka County for assessing <br />services. Mr. Wallens informed Council that while he served on the Spring <br />Lake Park City Council, that City chose to contract with Anoka County for <br />assessing services. Mr. Wallens stated that Spring Lake Park had a very <br />bad experience with Anoka County. While it may seem wise to contract with <br />the County to save the cost of having an on-staff assessor, the end result <br />may involve a sharp increase in property taxes. <br /> <br />Ms. Claudia Dodge - Director of Community Education in Namsey - Ms. Dodge <br />reviewed programs and enrollment data from the Community Ed Program during <br />the past year. Ms. Dodge proceeded to review the proposed budget for the <br />Community Education Program in 1989. Ms. Dodge noted that one edditlon to <br />the Community Education budget for 1989 is a Key Communicator Coordinator <br />for 15 hours a week and a Teen Coordinator for 20 hours a week. <br /> <br />City Administrator Hartley and Finance Officer Sandra Ashley proceeded to <br />review the proposed General Fund Budget for 1989. <br /> <br />City Council recessed at 9:29 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the meeting back to order at 9:47 p.m. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Ashley distributed copies of an outline for Ramsey's <br />insurance coverage for 1987/1988. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Ashley proceeded to review Revenues and Other Financing <br />Sources documents. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley distributed the proposed 1989 Park Capital Improvement Budget. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that the deadline for adopting and filing Ramsey's levy <br />is October 10, 1988. <br /> <br />The City Council scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday, September 28, <br />1988 at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of continuing budget discussions. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann directed that the next budget meeting include a discussion of <br />funding for purchasing seedling trees for distribution to Ramsey residents. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Bawden to <br />adjourn the special City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, <br />Bawden, DeLuca and Pearson.
