Gary Ostrum stated that UPA has found that nice development occurs near
substations; the things associated with the substation are not as negative
as those associated with the types of bussinesses that would be permitted
to develop on the subject property.

Shelley Then - Stated that people living next to the substation on County
Road ~5 have reception problems.

Pat Cairns stated that UPA has received no complaints ab out the substation
on Cry. Rd. ~5 but it will be checked out. There is no reason why a
substa ion should cause t.v. interference if the equipment is properly
maintained or not damaged; UPA has the tools to find substation
malfunctions that are causing problems. Mr. Cairns then presented photos
of substations located near residential areas.

Jeff Abrahamson - Stated that he hopes the City denies the request for a
conditional use permit and advises UPA to find a better location.

Lloyd Kahlstorf - Stated that the substation fans have 16 fins and in the
summer they run just about continuously; this substation is proposed to be
only 240 feet from the nearest house.

ADJOURNMENT

Consensu's was to adjourn the public hearing at 9:25 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sylvia Frolik
Secretary

community Development Director

Planning & Zoning Commission Public Hearing/August 2, 1988
