CASE #5: REQUEST FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO: 1) ESTABLISH AND OPERATE A LANDFILL FOR WASTE CONCRETE AND CONCKETE-KELATED HATERIALS; AND 2) EXCAVATE AND FILL MATERIALS IN THE OPERATION OF THE PROPOSED LANDFILL; CASE OF BLADHOLM BROTHERS By: Community Development Director Anne Norris Background: Bladholm Brothers is requesting a conditional use permit to establish and operate a landfill on the old Prestressed property. Bladholm is proposing to establish and operate a landfill in order to dispose of approximately 45,000 cubic yards of waste concrete from past, current and future pipe and prestressed concrete product manufacturing. Bladholm is proposing to operate this landfill over a 24 year period within a 13.3 acre site. In addition, Bladholm Brothers is requesting a conditional use permit to excavate soils from the site for the landfill operation. Bladholm is proposing to remove approximately 25,400 cubic yards of soils from the site. These soils would be used for construction and filling on the remainder of their property. For your information, the following items are enclosed: a) Application and attached information b) Site location map c) Public hearing notice d) Properties notified Observations: Due to the complexity of this request, the City Attorney and City Engineer have suggested that the Commission table action on this request pending the preparation of findings of fact based on comments and information received during the public hearing.
