Subdistricts. <br /> <br />Because the river shall be managed as a multiple purpose resource, and it possesses a <br />variation in both natural characteristics and types of urban and rural development, that <br />portion of the Mississippi River Critical Area located in the City has been segmented into <br />the following overlay subdistricts as identified in Executive Order 79-19: <br /> <br />"RO" - Rural Open Space District - The lands and water within this district <br />shall be used and developed to preserve their open, scenic and natural <br />characteristics and ecological and economic functions. Presently undeveloped <br />islands shall be maintained in their existing natural state. The transportation <br />function of the river shall be maintained and preserved. <br /> <br />"UDD" - Urban Developed District - the lands and waters within this district <br />shall be maintained largely as residential areas. The expansion of existing and <br />developmet of new industrial, commercial, and other non-residential or non- <br />recreational uses shall be limited to preserve and enhance the residential <br />character of this district. <br /> <br />The boundaries of the Mississippi River Critical Area Corridor and the urban and rural <br />subdistricts within the Critical Area include all of the land riverward of the boundary line <br />and as shown on the map designated as the Official Zoning Map of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />3. Boundaries of the urban and rural overlay subdistricts are designated on the Official <br /> Zoning Map of the City and made a part of this code and legally described as follows: <br /> <br />Rural Open Space Subdlstrict: That part of the City of Ramsey, County of Anoka, <br />State of Minnesota lying and being west of the east line of Section 34 (T32, PO5W) <br />within the Mississippi River Critical Area Corridor boundary. <br /> <br />Urban Developed Snbdistriet: That part of the City of Ramsey, County of Anoka, State <br />of Minnesota lying and being east of the west line of Section 35 (T32, R35W) within the <br />Mississippi River Critical Area Corridor boundary. <br /> <br />page <br /> <br />Mississippi River Overlay District <br />Draft - Oct '05 <br /> <br /> <br />
