PC CASE <br /> <br />DISCUSSION REGARDING POSSIBLE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE <br />CHANGES FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />As mentioned in last week's Weekly Update, a great deal of conversation has been <br />generated by the Organizational Study and the City Administrator has met with some <br />department heads to discuss possible changes that may be recommended as part of the <br />organizational study. The purpose of this agenda item is to bring forward for preliminary <br />discussion an important issue affecting the Public Works and Fire Departments. <br /> <br />In recent discussions with Springsted, staff learned that Springsted representatives have <br />analyzed the growing needs of the Fire and Public Works Departments and are <br />recommending that these functions be separated. As you know, Dean Kapler currently <br />serves as the City's Public Works Director/Fire Chief.
