Page - 2 - <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br /> Grade and shape area "B" to slope mway from area "C" and <br />· to area "F"t o,r <br /> <br />Create a diversion berm in area "~' to intercept runoff and <br />direct to area "F". This berm need onlybe approximately <br />12" high. The outlet should be so shaped as to spread the <br />water in area "F" without being concentrated to prevent <br />erosion. All areas to be properly seeded. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Create a concrete curb along the east boundary of the feed- <br />lot "C" to trap and direct the runoff to area "F". This <br />may re(Mire raising the south end of the concrete slab by <br />pouring additonal concrete if the no~th end of the slab is <br />not now lower than the south end. <br /> <br />A holding pond. or structure.would need to be constructed to <br />receive and hold the runoff. This could be a combination of <br />a berm or dike ~ith some excavation. This would need to be <br />properly designed and a plan fo~ removal and disposal of the <br />waste worked out. <br /> <br />Build a roof over the entire feedlot. This is one measure <br />which you mentioned on December 19th. I feel that this <br />measure certainly has merit but-question whether it is econ- <br />omicslly feasible. However, if this was done, I would <br />recommend that the roof be so constructed as to direct rain- <br />water to area "F" and/or area "B" where it could be routed <br />to area "F". By no means should the rainwater be directed <br />to "D" and "E". Th~ waste accumulated would have to be re- <br />moved regularly as it is now done. <br /> <br />Any of the above measures will help to minimize the extent of the <br />problem. These could be used in combination with each other or in- <br />dividually. In my opinion, measure #3 would probably be the single <br />most effective measure. <br /> <br />Cost of installing these measures cannot be determined until they are <br />analyzed in detail after plans and designs are developed. <br /> <br />However, for comparison purposes, I will make some "rough guesses". <br />These are by no means intended to indicate accurate cost estimates. <br />I repeat that specific plans and designs are needed for this to be <br />done. <br /> <br /> <br />
