TO: City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Building Official <br /> <br />RE: ~etal Detector Purchase <br /> <br />DATE: November 18, 1980 <br /> <br />Attached please find the quotation of $529.00 for a Heliflux Magnetic <br />Locator. We did not acquire any additional quotes as Albinson's, Inc. is <br />the only distributor of this particular instrument in this area. <br />We did acquire literature from a manufacture of a different type of locator <br />whose prices are about one half that of the locator we are requesting. We <br />are basing our request on previous experience and know the locator we want <br />to be more accurate, faster and far less troublesome to use. We feel this <br />along with the better quality is sufficient to justify the additional cost. <br /> There is $500.00 in the Building Department Budget for the purchase of the <br /> locator and the additional $29.00 could be transferred either from another <br /> Building Department line item or from the Street maintenance budget. <br /> The locator will be used by both the Maintenance and Building Departments <br /> for the purpose of locating property corners, buried cables, culverts and <br /> any other buried metal objects. <br /> I will try to be available for the meeting to answer any questions that may <br /> arise.~ <br /> <br /> CRB: sb <br /> <br /> <br />
