WNS
October 28, 1980
Dear Mayor Bloomquist:
City of Ramsey
Mayor Richard Bloomquist
2015 First Avenue
Anoka, Minnesota 55303
15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 • (612) 427 -1410
RE: City of Anoka Landfill
I would like to take this opportunity to discuss with you the contract be-
tween the City of Anoka and the City of Ramsey relating to the future of
the Anoka Landfill. As you are no doubt aware, that contract is dated
October 25, 1976 and provides that Anoka will convey fee title to the land-
fill property to Ramsey no "sooner than October 31, 1981, and no later than
December 1, 1981."
Recently, the existence of the landfill has been the source of much concern
to the City of Ramsey and residents living in its general vicinity. I am
certain you are aware of these concerns because of newspaper publicity as
well as your attendance of Ramsey's September 15, 1980 meeting regarding
this matter.
The concerns of the community regarding the landfill as well as the landfill's
future are, therefore, priority items with the City of Ramsey City Council.
It is for the above reasons that I am writing this letter. It would seem to
be in the best interests of both of our Cities for a committee to be formed
to discuss the orderly transfer of the landfill property. I suggest that
the committee consist of our respective City managers, City Attorneys and
one Council person from each City Council.
It is my hope that the committee can meet and resolve any problems relating
to the land transfer and "iron out" the details generally present regarding
such a matter.
I would appreciate your Council's review of the above and I look forward to
your response in the near future.
Sincerely,
CITY OF RAMSEY
7 ! . ,>
Thomas G.
