CC Special Work Session 2.1. <br />Meeting Date: 03/21/2023 <br />Title: <br />City Board and Commission Interviews <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The City conducts annual board and commission interviews every March for seats that are vacant and for terms <br />that are set to expire on March 31, with new terms beginning on April 1. The recruitment process is conducted per <br />City policy and includes the Economic Development Authority (EDA), the Environmental Policy Board (EPB), <br />the Park and Recreation Commission and the Planning Commission. Due to the high number of applicants, this <br />year, interviews were split over two dates, March 14 and March 21. Applicant application materials will be <br />provided to the City Council at the meeting. <br />Background <br />The boards and commissions were advertised in the Ramsey Resident, the City's official newspaper, on the <br />Community Sign, on Facebook, on the City's board and commission website page, as a Spotlight on the City's <br />website homepage and on QCTV. <br />New Applicants <br />There are 12 new applicants for up to 6 open seats: <br />. One full 6 year term on the EDA <br />. Up to 3 partial terms on the EPB <br />. One full term on the Planning Commission <br />. One full term on the Park and Recreation Commission <br />Incumbents (Odd Year Policy/Process -- Includes Interview/Feedback Session ) <br />One incumbent is seeking appointment to a third term on the Park and Recreation Commission. This incumbent <br />attended an interview/feedback session with the City Council last week. <br />Incumbents (Even Year Policy/Process - *No Interview/Feedback Session Required) <br />One incumbent is seeking appointment for the 4th time to the E.P.B. <br />One incumbent is seeking appointment for the 2nd time to the Park and Recreation Commission. <br />One incumbent is seeking appointment for the 2nd time to the Planning Commission. <br />*All incumbents have been recommended for reappointment by the respective Chair. One current <br />member of the E.P.B. is seekina to discontinue servina on the E.P.B. and switch to the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. <br />Per Minnesota Statue 469.095 (attached). the Mayor appoints members to the Economic Development <br />Authority with approval from the Council. The City Council will receive a separate packet with specific <br />non-public applicant information at the beginning of the work session. <br />Timeframe: <br />Three interviews were conducted on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. The remaining interviews will occur this evening <br />with the first interview starting at 6:45 and the last interview ending at approximately 9:00 p.m. <br />Funding Source: <br />N/A <br />
