Complaints/Concerns Regarding Polling Locations following the
November 8, 2022 General Election
Independent Baptist 15650 Sunfish Lk Blvd W2P2
Feedback from resident received 11/9/2022:
My polling place was that Baptist church the CC decided to use because there were no
other options in Ward 2. 1 have to say, it was awful (not Georgia 12 hours in line with no
water awful - but awful). Certainly the weather played a part, but since there is ZERO
lighting in the lot and it was so dark, you could not see anything. My daughter and I had
to park up top in the overflow lot because the lower lot was so full people were parking
in the trees and into the field. There was NO accessible parking for anyone who may
have had a disability to be seen (one spot was there, and taken by a non -handicapped
driver). We used our phone lights to see to slide down a sizable muddy hill to get to the
door. I would like to go on record as objecting that this building/location is ever used
again for voting purposes. I know the fire station on Armstrong was not used last night
and I'd love to see that utilized again. Clean building, room to vote, well lit parking lot -
the whole nine.
Feedback from Head Judaes Post Election:
The parking lot doesn't have lighting, so we actually had a small fender bender in the
parking lot. There are not lights leading to the door and we did have a voter fall down in
her walker out there. Overall, our biggest problem was trying to fit people into our space
and the worries about all the illegal and unsafe parking that was happening.
Even more needed would be to find a larger building for w2p2 with more parking, and
more space inside. There was a lot of discussion among the judges again this time
wondering why we are not using the schools or any of the many new building that have
gone up in Ramsey as polling places. Parking is frustrating for voters. As the lot gets
full, voters park in the upper lot, where they cannot get into the building so are forced to
walk down a slope that could be icy. If judges park in the upper lot to make more
parking available, voters see all the cars and would try to get in the building where the
doors are locked. Lighting is bad for the darker hours of the day in the parking lot. It is
also very hard to see the unlighted sign the city puts out by the highway to mark the
driveway entrance. Very hazardous given the speed on Co 5 is 55 mph.
Proposed Alternative Location within 1-mile border of W2P2:
• Fire Station #1 15050 Armstrong Blvd
